Celebrity Monday

We travel a bit further south before turning onto a highway that is headed east (inland). U2 is still playing on the iPod, and I have not the energy to argue.

At this point Grumpy tells me that we're headed for the Harmony Motel in a place in 29 Palms called Joshua Tree. Sound familiar? It's the name of a U2 album.

And U2 stayed at the Harmony Motel when they were writing and recording the Joshua Tree album. (Apparently Bono stayed in the room we're in, but they could say that about every room!)

The place is bizarre. It's basically a desert (as in sand not pudding). Absolutely nothing but bare earth, trees and mountains all around. The highway runs along and a little bit of civilisation lines each side. (Mostly places offering bail bonds and dentistry, but there are some fast food places and supermarkets too.) I've nipped out for supplies because a) our room has a kitchen and I'm really fancying simple food and b) Grumpy has some kind of walking activity planned tomorrow and given the temperature here we're going to need lots of water!

Assuming I survive the desert trek (and no jokes please about camels and humps) I'll be back blogging soon. Right now, I fancy more leftover pizza and beer!!!

(Seriously, how big does a pizza need to be? Last night's order was only meant to do one meal!!!)
