Cos it can be flipping painful, that's why!!! Finally found the hire car desk. Now, Grumpy spent WEEKS researching cars. Of course, he couldn't choose one without me, so he made a website with details from several different hire companies (so I wouldn't know which one he was using). After another few nights of research we chose the Ford Edge. Reasons? Roomy but not overly huge, AWD (so good for most kinds of road) and classed as a FUN car. Ooh, and it could take the iPod too :D Arrive at Hertz early. Lady behind the desk is chatty and sweet (she said she loved my glasses and I'm easily pleased :D), Grumpy signs the chit and off we head for the garage. But hang on, the paperwork says we're getting a GMC Envoy. Yuck yuck yuck. Go to look at it anyway (nice lady says they don't know when the Edge will be back - grrrrr) but no, it's hideous. Had to explain that we didn't choose it just because it could fit 4 suitcases............ Back upstairs and a lot of waiting (and 2 more people on the phone to the garage) and we finally get the keys to an Edge (and a $30 voucher for our trouble). Perfect. The luggage fits like a dream. Then we notice it's only 2WD. And there's no iPod port. Aaaaarrrrggggghhhhh!!! Over to the office, another discussion about this not being the car we booked, and a nice man finally hands me the keys to the right car. An hour later than planned (and we landed early on top of that) and the luggage is in, the iPod is on and I'm learning how to drive with one hand and one foot. Oh, and which side of the road to drive on. By the time we're on the freeway we've bonded with the car. We've called her Eddie, by the way.
